Welcome to Ruby Country Medical Group

Ruby Country Medical Group brings together Holsworthy Medical Centre, Stratton Medical Centre, Hatherleigh & Shebbear surgeries, serving Holsworthy and Stratton as well as surrounding villages. Our team includes GPs, a Clinical Pharmacist, paramedics, nurse practitioners, practice nurses, health care assistants and phlebotomists as well as our practice management and administrative support and patient services teams.

We are responsible for advising patients on leading a healthy lifestyle, as well as caring for people needing medical care. We offer a full general practice service and run specialist clinics as indicated in this website. There is also an on-site, independently run, pharmacy.

At Ruby Country Medical Group we aim to treat all our patients promptly, courteously and in complete confidence. We feel it is important that you know who you are speaking to, so our office staff wear a name badge and identify themselves on the telephone.

WE WILL BE CLOSED AT ALL SITES ON WEDNESDAY 19th DECEMBER 2018 1-2pm. Please call 999 for life-threatening emergencies or 111 for medical advice and/or direction during that hour.

FOR OUR HATHERLEIGH PATIENTS

HATHERLEIGH BRANCH OPENS FOR APPOINTMENTS ON 17th December! The new branch surgery is now where the old Natwest bank used to be, opposite the co-op.

To make a booking please call the bookings hub on 01409 253692.

The free bus service will continue to run from Shebbear Village Hall to Holsworthy Medical Centre for Shebbear patients.

OVER THE COUNTER MEDS

STRATTON MINOR INJURIES UNIT - TEMPORARY HOURS

Stratton Minor Injuries Unit will be changing their opening hours, as a temporary measure, from 7th December. Opening hours will now be 8am-10pm 7 days a week and not 24/7 as previously.

FLU VACCINATIONS

We now have a full supply of flu vaccinations and clinics are being run throughout December. Please call if you still need your free vaccination and are in the qualifying groups. Patients who were put on the waiting list, waiting for stock to arrive, have all been contacted by phone or sent a letter inviting them to book. Thank you for bearing with us. This has been a national problem, affecting every surgery in the UK.

CHEMISTS OPEN OVER CHRISTMAS

IMPROVED ACCESS FOR PATIENTS

Mid Devon Health and Exeter Primary Care are now providing extended hours service for our Devon patients when we are closed, in the evenings and at weekends. These are being held at a number of sites across the county. For more information follow the link; MID DEVON HEALTH (for weekends) and EXETER PRIMARY CARE (for evenings to 8pm).

Kernow Health also operate an extended hours service at Bodmin, Liskeard, Falmouth and Truro. More information and links will be added shortly. If you wish to book in please call us for availability.

At the request of NHS England we have taken on the running of both Shebbear and Hatherleigh Surgeries as of 2nd July 2018.

HGV MEDICALS: Update

From 1st November 2018 our GPs will no longer be able to complete the optical report part of the HGV medical form as they did previously. This will need to be completed by an optician in advance of the GP medical. This will effect all patients wishing to renew their HGV licence and not just patients who wear glasses.

We would like to thank our patients for being so supportive of our Emergency Teams and for answering brief questions on booking. Please note that if you are not able or do not wish to give details of your condition at the time of booking you will be given a telephone appointment with a member of the clinical team so that your condition can be assessed and an appointment given appropriately. Any information you give on booking is always treated as strictly confidential
